URGENT PETITION TO SAVE DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS
Help Us Get 1 Million Signatures to Congress and the FDA!
Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued draft guidance for complying with the New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notification protocols contained in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) which was passed into a law in 1994. The FDA drafted this guidance because it was mandated by the recent Food Safety Modernization Act. If fully implemented, this could ban all dietary supplements in the United States that were formulated after 1994.
This would mean that nearly all vitamin and supplement ingredients, superfoods, multivitamins, detox supplements and medicinal herbal products could be banned from sale in the United States, because very few supplement ingredients can be conclusively shown to have been widely used before 1994.
Dietary supplements are crucial to the proper functioning of the human body. Not only is our food supply depleted of nutrients, we are also faced with numerous environmental assaults on our health. These supplements are used to boost our immune system, promote detoxification and prevent disease, and this would be detrimental for the health of our nation.
Please voice your strong opposition to the NDI draft guidance!
I, the undersigned citizen of the United States, do call upon all members of Congress and the FDA to abort the draft guidance for complying with the New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) notification protocols contained in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA).
