Dr. Steven F. Hotze
Steven F. Hotze, M.D.
Dr. Hotze, founder of the Hotze Health & Wellness Center, is leading the revolution in wellness!
With a goal to help individuals achieve optimal health and lifelong wellness through the natural treatment of food and airborne allergies and yeast sensitivity, as well as balancing the thyroid, adrenal and sex hormones, Dr. Hotze believes in evaluating an individual’s symptoms and then treating their underlying causes naturally. Dr. Hotze graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in 1976.
Once he completed the program, he pursued a career in family medicine, opening a practice of his own in Austin and later in Houston. After practicing traditional family medicine for well over a decade, Dr. Hotze broadened the scope of his practice and trained in allergy in 1989. The focus of his practice then shifted from medicating a patient’s symptoms to treating the cause of the symptoms, in many cases, their allergies. His patients were actually getting better. Dr. Hotze’s practice continued to evolve.
He began to notice that many women had other health problems besides their allergies. As he listened to his patients he began to detect a pattern. Many of these women had been suffering chronic illnesses many of them due to hormonal changes, such as childbirth or midlife. Others were suffering from recurrent yeast overgrowth, thyroid disorders, adrenal fatigue, and vitamin deficiency.
To address these health concerns, Dr. Hotze and the staff at the Hotze Health & Wellness Center work with each patient to determine the underlying causes and then develop an appropriate treatment plan, customized for that individual. As his patients’ healthcare needs continued to grow, Dr. Hotze broadened the breadth of his services and, in 1993, established a nutritional supplement company, Physician’s Preference, Inc.
The company has over 75 vitamins and mineral supplements available for its customers. Later, in 2001, he opened a compounding pharmacy, Hotze Pharmacy, which specializes in compounding natural, bio-identical hormones.
His reputation and natural approach to treating his patients has drawn attention from not only his peers but also from the local and national media. He has made numerous television and radio appearances, including Houston’s KHOU “This Morning” television program with Deborah Duncan, CNN’S American Morning show as the expert on natural, bio-identical hormone therapy in New York, Houston’s FOX Channel 26, the CBS Early Show in New York and numerous other radio and television programs throughout the country.
Because his natural approach to medicine has gained widespread appeal, Dr. Hotze decided to pen his extensive background and experiences and write a book. In his book, titled Hormones, Health, and Happiness, he provides hope for the many men and women who are suffering from recurrent health problems and gives them tools to take charge of their own health, naturally.
In addition to his book, he has been published in array of publications such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Houston Chronicle and Spirit Magazine. Lastly, Dr. Hotze is a radio talk show host on Houston’s KSEV 700 AM - Houston and KVCE 1160 AM - Dallas on Health & Wellness, where he leads insightful discussions on health and wellness and gives the listening audience an opportunity to call in and ask him questions.
Married for 38 years with eight children and nine grandchildren, Dr. Hotze is a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He remains committed to his faith, family and community and is devoted to educating individuals on ways to take charge of their health. Whether it is through the radio, television, publications, or at the Hotze Health & Wellness Center,
Dr. Hotze is determined to revolutionize the way men and women are treated in midlife.
